The Visionary Behind Wanderluxe: Kimberly Currie

Master Esthetician, Makeup Artist, Award Winning Beauty Brand CEO and Founder of Wanderluxe, Kimberly has spent 13 years as a clinical skincare professional before developing her beauty brand. With a background in luxury beauty and a passion for sustainable, impactful products, I have created a line that caters to sensitive and problematic skin while maintaining a high standard of luxury and efficacy.

I have always been drawn to glamor, makeup, skin, and luxury. Seriously, one of my first words was “lipstick.” I was in awe of the pink Cadillacs, the queens of the Dior, Chanel, and Estee counters, and the feel of a quality product. While other kids were saving up for the latest fashion trends, I was the only 13-year-old saving up to buy skincare instead of Abercrombie. Leading one of these iconic beauty companies became my mission.

When I was 16, I was either fortunate enough, or annoying enough, to catch the eye of a makeup artist who took me under her wing. When she worked events, she would invite me to clean her brushes and watch everything she did. By 17, I was enrolled in an esthetician program and received my license a month before I received my high school diploma. I then moved from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles to begin my makeup and skin career. I trained for 12 months and worked anywhere that would hire me. I eventually met someone who gave me an internship with their international skincare brand. Again, I was either fortunate enough, or annoying enough. There, I became deeply obsessed with skincare products.

Before I found real, solid footing in this industry, I had moved back to Pittsburgh to spend the final months of my dad’s life with him. It was there we continued conversations we started 10 years prior. We talked in-depth about me starting my own product line. But, how could I create a product that would rival the luxurious brands I was used to using and inspired by? I traveled to Paris and my vision was set. I remember being on the plane back thinking, the next time I'm in Paris, I will be selling my product. It was my “Yes” moment. A few weeks later, I received a very unexpected check in the mail after my dad’s passing. It wasn't much, but I knew that was a sign from my dad that it was my time to develop our vision. I spent the next few months working with the best in the industry to create a high-quality, luxury product that was accessible to anyone and made for everyone.

I launched my first beauty brand, OUI Beauty in 2019. After winning awards across the country, and being sold internationally I was prepared to begin my next skin care brand adventure. And with that, the dissolvable beauty product dream began.
